Canada Ranked in Top 3 Nations for Immigration
In the 2019 Anholt-Ipsos Nation Brands Index (NBI) Canada takes 3rd overall, ranking in the top 3 for the first time. They captured the 1st spot in three of the six categories; Immigration and Investment, People, and Governance.
This is the second year in a row that Canada has taken the top spot in Immigration and Investment, pointing to high global perception of the quality of life and professional opportunities. According to a spokesperson of the study, this specific category evaluates a company’s ability to attract talent and capital. Further, it gives insight into how the rest of the world perceives the country’s “economic prosperity, equality of opportunity, and ultimately whether it is perceived to be a place with a high quality of life”.
Canada has moved up two places from 5th overall last year.
Germany retained the top spot for the third year in a row and France takes 2nd place, improving its position from 4th in 2018. The United States, which has routinely held the top spot in the past, has taken 6th place for the third year running.
The NBI was launched in 2005 and ranks 50 countries in terms of how they are perceived globally. This year’s study surveyed 20,035 individuals aged 18 and over from 20-panel countries. Results are weighted to accurately reflect many key demographic considerations.
